Of Pottery & History

We spent the 4-day weekend for MLK, Jr. Day in Berlin and Boleslawiec, Poland. Since we now know we will be leaving Germany this summer, we are trying to fit in everything we absolutely must do before then. Two of those things for me were seeing Berlin (Nathan had already been) and buying some Polish pottery, so we smashed the two together into one trip. Nathan ended up driving us for 22 hours over the 4 days. Nuts, but worth it.
(I think...)
The drive home was awful. What took us 6 hours to drive on Friday, took 10 hours on Monday. First, just outside of Berlin, we ran into a stau caused by what we assume to be a bad accident. We didn't move, not even an inch, for an hour. Then, the polizei had everyone turn around in stages to drive the wrong way down the autobahn to the closest exit. We drove back into Berlin and had to find another route south. It had snowed so much that the salt wasn't keeping the roads clear enough, so there were many stretches where everyone was driving only 30 mph.
Oh, and if we're good friends, you know there's more to this story...

BOLESLAWIEC
The first store we stopped in turned out to be the best one of the bunch we went to.
So much to choose from!
We ended up with these 5 pieces for our home : )
Lunch here was awesome!

After all the dreary colored buildings, this was a shocking sight.
