Nathan texted me at 9:30 this morning to tell me he had an assignment awaiting online. I had asked him weeks ago to tell me in a "good way," so I had to wait until he came home from work today to find out. The wait was worth it. He had strips of Post-It Notes fanned out, with various assignments we could have received written on the underside. I had to draw them one by one, and then he would tell me if the assignment I had drawn was ours or not. It was really suspenseful! I drew out:
Hanscomb AFB in Massachusetts
Hickam Field in Hawaii
Peterson AFB in Colorado
Osan AB in South Korea
Beale AFB in California (Staff Officer)
Offut AFB in Nebraska
All negatives.
In the end, I was left with
Beale AFB in California (Flight Commander)
andEllsworth AFB in South Dakota
Can you guess which one we got?
We're going to...
BEALE AFB in CALIFORNIA!
Nathan will be a flight commander for the weather flight of the 9th Operational Support Squadron. He will be overseeing the weather forecasting/briefing for U-2 pilots.
Our Report No Later Than Date (the date we have to be there by) is June 17th.
We are really excited!
Here's a little map of where we will be : )
About an hour from Sacramento and two hours from Lake Tahoe.

Welcome back to the USA!! I know your mom and dad are thrilled. I have truly enjoyed your vacations! :-) I think you'll enjoy living so close to Lake Tahoe - great vacation place!
Hurray! You'll be in our state! <3
Yipee! Hawaii was looking good too!
Congratulations! I remember that excruciating waiting when I was a kid (my dad was USAF). Knowing what comes next was always a huge relief. I can tell you guys have really enjoyed your time in Europe and you'll always look back with fond memories! Now on to the next adventure! God speed! :) (PS. I was born at Offut AFB but we left when I was a few months old and I've only been back once!)
